Fast hätten wir die CD Dick This eines gewissen Dick Brave mit seinen Backbeats auf den "Später hören"-Stapel gelegt.
Rockabilly und Fifties-Rock à la Straycats -- so toll finden viele das 80er-Revival, und die damit einhergehende Fifties-Reinkarnation,
dann doch nicht. Aber irgendwie ließ uns das Cover nicht los. Dieser Dick (was für ein Name!) sieht doch aus wie ... ja, wie ... wie
Sasha! Und er sieht nicht nur so aus, er ist Sasha.
Zwar existiert ein Waschzettel von der Plattenfirma, der uns versichert, dass es sich bei Dick Brave um einen gewissen Richard Leoncoeur
Junior handelt und tischt uns eine abenteuerliche Fama über die Vita des früh im Knast gelandeten Rockers auf. Rock'n'Roll- und
Sasha-Fans wissen jedoch natürlich um die Doppelidentität von Sasha, denn Dick Brave war bereits zwei Mal auf ausgedehnter Clubtour und
begeisterte Teds und Popfans gleichermaßen. Und man muss sagen, Sasha, äh Dick macht seine Sache wirklich gut.
Erstens braucht man zum Singen von Fifties-Rock eine fantastische, variantenreiche Stimme, für Sasha ja kein Problem. Zweitens benötigt
man einen gewissen Humor, um die Musik und ihre ursprüngliche Erscheinung nicht so ernst zu nehmen und respektlos in die benötigte Form
zu drücken. Auch hier haben die Jungs keinerlei Berührungsängste, dafür aber eine unglaubliche Menge Spaß. Nicht nur uralte Perlen
wie Little Richards "Slippin 'n' Slidin'" oder Carole Kings "Take Good Care (Of My Baby)" werden fröhlich interpretiert, und mit Sashas
sonorem Gesang, Stehbass, halbakustischer Gitarre, Klavier und fantastischen Drums Tollen-tauglich produziert.
Auch neuere Songs wie Pinks "Get The Party Started", Aerosmiths "Walk This Way", Avril Lavignes "Complicated" oder "Give It Away" von den
Red Hot Chili Peppers bekommen ein lustiges 50er-Jahre-Rock'n'Roll-Gewand übergestreift, das den Hörer perfekt an der Nase herumführt.
Nach einiger Zeit nämlich ist man sich sicher, dass Lavigne, die Peppers, Aerosmith oder auch George Michael und Michael Jackson
Fifties-Shanties gecovert haben, und nicht umgedreht. Dick aka Sasha und seine Bandkumpels (Adriano BaTolba, Matt L. Hanson, Mike Scott,
Phil K. Hanson, Namen, die vermutlich ebenso echt sind wie der von Dick Brave) jedenfalls machen einen tollen Job! Sie entwickeln eine
derart überschäumende, fröhliche und ausgelassene Spielfreude und eine so übermütige, vergnügliche Art und Weise mit den Kollegen
und Klassikern umzugehen, dass es eine wahre Freude ist.
Durch die virtuose Beherrschung der Instrumente und die Perfektion der Umsetzung kommen hier auch Hörer auf ihre Kosten, denen
Rockabilly normalerweise auf die Nerven geht. Sehr witzig, das Ganze, und mit der Elvis-Nummer und einzigen Ballade "They Remind Me Too
Much Of You" bringt uns Sasha am Ende wieder auf den Boden zurück. Übrigens: Dranbleiben, es gibt einen Hidden-Track sechs Minuten nach
